How to handle ‘Bad News’?

Over the past few weeks you may have heard many negative and challenging situations happening in our world. Hearing this may make one feel down and sad.

The Lord Buddha taught us to turn crisis into opportunity, because life is filled with uncertainty. This is the truth of life. This truth pertains not only to humans but also to animals and all sentient beings in this world. We do not know when death will come. You cannot assume you will live until 70, 80 or even 90 years of age. This is not certain at all. If you breath in and you do not breathe out, you will die. Therefore whenever we hear of negative news we should take this as a reminder that life is fragile and precious, you never know when it is your last day. So do not be heedless but strive to live in the present moment and accumulate the maximum amount of merit and goodness for yourself. Time waits for no one.
